After carefully assessing and diagnosing your shoulder injury or condition, our specialists will work with you to create a comprehensive care plan focused on wellness, prevention, and education. Our shoulder doctors strive to treat each patient with the utmost care and are dedicated to offering the latest and most advanced treatment options, including:

•    Arthroscopic surgery
•    Labral repair
•    Rotator cuff repair

The Shoulder

The shoulder joint is a ball-and-socket joint that allows for a wide range of motion. However, its range of motion also makes it unstable as well as vulnerable to injuries. Examples of common shoulder injuries include rotator cuff tears, fractures, tendon injuries, and shoulder bursitis.

When diagnosing a shoulder injury or condition, a shoulder doctor will perform a physical examination. They may also order tests, such as X-rays or an MRI, to help them better understand the injury or condition. Once the disorder has been diagnosed, a treatment plan will be developed. Sometimes, shoulder issues can be treated with nonoperative treatments. However, if the damage is too extensive or nonsurgical options fail to provide relief, surgery may be required.

Our shoulder doctors at OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports are dedicated to exhausting all applicable nonsurgical treatment options first, such as ultrasound-guided peripheral joint injections and physical therapy. If these options prove to be ineffective at relieving your shoulder pain, our surgeons will go over all of your surgical treatment options and help you determine which one is right for you.
